LAS VEGAS (AP) — A computer technician is telling a federal judge in Las Vegas that state and federal agents asked him to cut Internet service to Caesars Palace high-roller suites so they could pose as repairmen and collect evidence in an Internet sports gambling investigation. Defense attorneys maintain the ruse was unconstitutional. They want charges against a Malaysian businessman and his son thrown out.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas tourism officials say 40 million people have visited in 2014, breaking a record for the gambling and entertainment hub. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announced that the record number of visitors had been reached today. Agency spokeswoman Courtney Fitzgerald says the number includes overnight stays so the group's research team works with hotels to tabulate visitor counts.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada utility regulators have again rejected a plan for utility company NV Energy to buy solar power from a proposed solar generation station on the Moapa River Paiute Indian Reservation outside Las Vegas. Public Utilities Commission of Nevada action today followed rejection of the plan in October. The commission wants the utility to seek bids to buy 54 megawatts of electricity.

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (AP) — Sierra Nevada College President Lynn Gillette has resigned, and the school's executive vice president has been named as his temporary replacement. The North Lake Tahoe Bonanza reports that the college's board of trustees announced the move yesterday. Shannon Beets will serve as interim president during the search for a permanent replacement at the four-year, liberal arts college in Incline Village.
