BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Board of Corrections is considering the resignation of Correction Director Brent Reinke. He submitted his resignation yesterday, but the board declined to immediately accept it. Reinke's resignation comes after a 2013 private-prison scandal involving Corrections Corporation of America wrongly telling the state that guards were working shifts that were actually left vacant

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Prosecutors allege that a Pennsylvania man being held without bail in Idaho is a contract killer who shot two Boise residents to death. The Idaho Statesman reports that 44-year-old John Douglas was arraigned yesterday on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Prosecutors haven't offered a motive, but one defense attorney says drugs were involved.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Environmental groups and the Nez Perce Tribe have filed a lawsuit to prevent dredging of the lower Snake River to Lewiston. They contend the dredging will hurt salmon, steelhead and Pacific lamprey. The Army Corps says dredging behind Lower Granite Dam is needed to maintain the barging corridor.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Derrick Marks scored a season-high 31 points to help Boise State beat Idaho 86-75 last night for their sixth consecutive victory against their in-state rivals. Nick Duncan scored 15 points, Anthony Drmic added 14 and Mikey Thompson 12 for Boise State. Mike Scott scored 31 points on 11 of 17 shooting for Idaho.
