SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's unemployment rate ticked up slightly to 3.6 percent last month.

New jobless numbers released Friday by the state Department of Workforce Services show the rate in October was up one tenth of a percent from the month before.

It's still well below the national jobless rate at 5.8 percent.

The unemployment rate in Utah has hovered around 3.6 or 3.5 percent since May.

The Workforce Services department reports about 51,600 Utah residents were out of work last month and actively seeking a job.

Utah's economy had 47,000 more jobs in October than in the same month last year.
