LAS VEGAS (AP) — The president of a gay conservatives group in Nevada says that if he could, he'd likely withdraw a complaint alleging Clark County officials illegally issued same-sex marriage licenses before the state's gay marriage ban was struck down earlier this month. He said the suit was less relevant once same-sex marriage was legalized. Log Cabin Republicans support gay marriage, but they say it was important that it be done legally.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Nevada middle school teacher has posthumously been awarded a rare Air Force medal for bravery, a year after he was killed while trying to protect children during a schoolyard shooting. The Air Force Airman's Medal was presented to Sharon Landsberry, the widow of Sparks Middle School teacher Michael Landsberry. More than 500 people gathered for the ceremony.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Organizers of a southern Nevada festival that sent thousands of paper lanterns floating into the desert sky are apologizing for logistical problems that left crowds waiting for shuttle buses for hours. Producers of the RiSE Festival held Saturday night says problems cropped up in part because bus contracts expired before all attendees were out. About 10,000 people were scheduled to attend.

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a 55-year-old man who was arrested last week in Boulder City on a driving under the influence charge was found dead in his jail cell during the weekend at the Henderson city lockup. The Clark County coroner says the cause and manner of death wasn't immediately determined for John Mannion of Henderson.
