LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada gambling revenue rose less than 1 percent in July compared with the same month last year, with nearly a 5 percent gain on the Las Vegas Strip offsetting declines in Reno, Stateline on Lake Tahoe's south shore, and Wendover on the Utah line, the state Gambling Control Board reported Thursday.

The state's casinos brought in a total of $932 million last month, up 0.65 percent from July 2013, the board said.

More than half of that, $563 million, was gambled on the Las Vegas Strip.

Clark County as a whole showed a 2 percent increase to $800 million including the Boulder Strip ($68 million, down nearly 10 percent), Laughlin ($39 million, down 0.7 percent), downtown Las Vegas ($38 million, down 3 percent) and North Las Vegas ($23 million, down 2 percent).

Casinos in Reno reported $48 million in gambling revenue in July, down 2 percent from the same month a year ago, and Sparks had $10 million, up 1 percent, the board said.

Gambling on Tahoe's south shore dove 23 percent to $25 million, but revenue rose 5 percent to $3.5 million at North Lake Tahoe.

Elko County overall saw a 10 percent decline to $20 million, including a 9 percent drop to $12.5 million in Wendover.

The Carson Valley area reported a 3.5 percent decrease to $8 million, the board said.

Nevada officials collected $52 million in taxes on the July winnings. That's down almost 15 percent over last year.
