NEW YORK (AP) — Fox can thank Derek Jeter and Jack Bauer for a strong week in the television ratings.

Last week's telecast of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game was seen by 11.3 million viewers and was the week's most popular live program. The game had a bigger audience than any of the last three editions of the midsummer classic, as it turned into a tribute to Jeter, the retiring New York Yankees shortstop.

Action hero Bauer, portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland, led the final episode of the "24: Live Another Day" miniseries into the Nielsen company's list of top 10 programs. An estimated 6.5 million people watched it last Monday.

As a result, struggling Fox finished second in viewership among the networks and first with the young viewers it cares most about.
