LEHI -- A Lehi company is working on a revolutionary flash memory drive. IM Flash Technologies Inc. says it is set to produce the world's smallest flash memory chips with the largest capacity.
The company plans to begin producing the 25-nanometer 8 gigabyte chips at its plant in Lehi next quarter. These new chips are smaller than the center hole in a CD, yet they hold 10 times the data of a standard CD.
The Daily Herald reports the company hasn't said whether this will lead to any new Utah jobs.
IM Flash Technologies is a joint venture of Micron Technology Inc. and Intel Corp. and occupies the former Micron plant in Lehi.
The new chip can be used in things like digital cameras, smartphones and media players.
