SALT LAKE CITY -- A new poll suggests Utah voters will cast their ballots for Gov. Gary Herbert in a special election next year that would allow him to finish out former Gov. John Huntsman Jr.'s term.
According to the Deseret News/KSL TV poll, 51 percent of the 408 people polled said Herbert should be elected. Just 28 percent said they want a new governor, while 9 percent said it would depend on who runs against him.
What if that opponent happened to be Democrat Peter Corroon, mayor of Salt Lake County?
Fifty-six percent said if that were the case, they would probably or definitely vote for Herbert, while 32 percent said they would vote for Corroon.
Mayor Corroon has expressed interest in running for governor but has not officially announced whether or not he will enter the race.
