SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- It's on again.
The mayors of Salt Lake City and Provo have renewed their wager on the rivalry football game between the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.
The Utes visit the Cougars on Saturday in Provo.
The losing mayor gets to travel to the winning city -- by bicycle. The 50-mile ride is scheduled for Dec. 5.
The mayors also set up a food drive as part of the rivalry. Last year's drive brought in more than 122,000 pounds of food and $78,000 in donations.
"Last year's Rivalry Ride prompted an incredibly generous response from both cities," Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker said. "We hope to beat last year's tally with this year's efforts."
Utah ended a two-year losing streak in the rivalry with a win at home last year.
Provo Mayor Lewis Billings started on the ride last year, with Becker joining him, but a snowstorm forced the mayors off their bikes.
Becker, a Utah graduate, says he will ride again this year -- in support of Billings.
"As a Utah fan," Becker said, "I look forward to again riding alongside Mayor Billings from Provo to Salt Lake City."
The mayors invite fans of either school to join them and support the cause.
"Utah County residents, following the lead of our Cougar football team, regularly step up to any challenge -- especially in times when the community stands in need," Billings said. "We are excited to announce this year's Rivalry Ride as a great opportunity for both cities to celebrate our respective teams, promote green transportation and increase food donations for those in need."
