SANDY -- The Utah Women's Show is going on at the South Towne Expo Center this weekend, and this year there is an interesting booth that is trying to recruit women into a sometimes dangerous line of work.

For a second year, the Salt Lake Police Department is at the show educating women about careers in law enforcement.

"A career in law enforcement is good for anyone, including females," says Salt Lake City police Sgt. Robin Synder.

Snyder is one of the most recognizable female faces with the Salt Lake Police Department. A former Public Information Officer, she's back working with the public for the weekend at the Utah Women's Show, answering questions about careers in law enforcement.

"For me, it was something I didn't know about before I decided to be an officer," Synder says.

To catch women's attention, a police motorcycle was on display, along with an explosive robot and Segway. Salt Lake County even brought a mascot.

Female employees from Weber County, the Utah Highway Patrol, the Department of Corrections and more are on hand at the show to explain the different opportunities for women in the force.

"We have women from 12 agencies participating for the first time. We are really excited about it," Synder says.

She says it's important to have women in law enforcement to make the team more well-rounded.

"Your police department should reflect your community; that includes women and minorities," Snyder says.

The Utah Women's Show runs until Saturday night at 8:00.
