@MyOpinion4U - MyOpinion,

If the actual battlefield were to arrive on American Soil, I dont think the Military would get the chance to Mobilize before WALMART,BIG-5, and every other gun/ammo selling store was sold out and the country armed itself. Same reason that NOBODY will invade China. Someething about 1BILLION pissed off people if that happened, or in Americas Case around 350+ Million. Just think of all the Rednecks that actually get to shoot something......

Secondly, GOOD JOB KSL on the fine reporting. I understand and I am greatefull to know that the Soldier from Ogden is ok and will have fragments removed from his hip, but I wonder how many rocks they had to look under to find a Utah Mother of a Soldier stationed at Ft. Hood??????

Have you not been listening to the news since 9/11 for this is not the first military compound that has been targeted or hit, and since President OBama/Congress doesn't want to secure our borders on either sides we will be targeted as soon as our home weapons are taken away, then they will strike even more so, until then the Armed Civilian American is a danger to their cause.

Our government has trampled over the people and asked us to be tolerant while they have continued to destroy our country all in the name of GREED. At the end of each questionable act of corruption with our government and politicians, ask yourself could the reason for this be GREED? Answer, YES. Greed is the root of all CORRUPTION and LYING.

If you don't own weapons or guns, you might want to think about arming yourself before your rights to bear arms are removed by your politicians and president.

@Jeff Rudd - Jeff, I am so very sorry for the loss of your friend.

I am going to repeat something to you that I was impressed to tell one of "My Guys" a few years ago.

While serving in Iraq, a soldier in my husbands unit had an accident that broke his neck. He was not paralyzed but did have to come back to the states and have surgery. He was treated very well and did make a very good recovery.

While recovering, he helped with the units Family Readiness Program. He and I spoke several times. He did not understand why he was here, why it had happened, and why he could not have continued to help his fellow unit members.

I told him he may never know the reason that these things happened to him, but that he should believe that he was here for a reason. He was needed here. He was still fully serving his unit but just in a different way. He help the families which in turn helped the soldiers serving because they new he was here helping.

I don't know if these words will give you any comfort, but I hope that they will.

Take care and know that you are needed.

It's a Utah newspaper, so of course they are going to focus on Utah soldiers. I feel bad that these soldiers died, but I would have felt worse if that soldier was my brother or neighbor. When we know the people who are injured or die, then it adds an element of personal sorrow. KSL is hedging their bets that people reading their paper may have known the injured soldier and the soldier that was killed. Hence the local Utah focus. They are reporting to their audiance.

During WWII nobody had a problem with the idea that we were at war with Germany and Japan. Yet nobody thought we were literally "at war" with every, single German and Japanese citizen, including women and children.

Why can't we accept the fact that we are at war with Islam? Islam knows it's at war with America. Obviously. This doesn't mean we need to kill every Muslim on the face of the planet, any more than we needed to kill every German or Japanese. But we must defeat Islam. It's not just a religion. It's a culture, a government, and everything else.

Get a clue, people. We didn't recruit soldiers from Germany or Japan during the war. Why are we recruiting Muslims now? And then we act all surprised when they attack us? The man was just doing his job as a soldier. If you're at war, and you are surrounded by your enemies and you're holding a gun, you shoot. It seems obvious to me. Just like the Muslim who fragged officers in Iraq early on in the war. You give the enemy a bunch of grenades and turn him loose in your headquarters? Then you're shocked when he blows you up? You're pretty stupid.

Just as we couldn't trust a solider whose allegiance was to Hitler or Tojo, neither can we trust a soldier whose first loyalty is to Allah.

In other news: The world is round. The sky is blue. 2 + 2 = 4. If there are any other crashingly obvious facts I can point out, please let me know. I've got a bunch of 'em.

@John D. - Sometimes its right to be scared of the giant alien sitting next to you with dripping fangs and lasers and stuff.

Being afraid of things that are dangerous to you is part of the survival instinct. I think muslims are dangerous to Americans. Call it xenophobic if you like, I call it smart.

@John D. - watreskell, its not like it was a big scary alien with dripping fangs..it was an American born PhD psychiatrist in a uniform. yes the FBI was investigating him (i think they really dropped the ball on this one), but i'm sure the people that came in contact with him from day to day had no idea he would go nuts and open fire. the sad fact is unless you are going to fear everyone, or you have access to FBI files, you have no idea who to fear. it's not like this guy was dressed as Osama Bin Laden.

@John D. - My point exactly Maggie. It's NOT like he was dressed like Osama Bin Laden. The only thing he has in common with ALL THE OTHER TERRORISTS is his muslim religion.

I'm calling a spade a spade. As I said earlier, I know not all muslims are terrorists, but nearly all terrorists are muslims. Call it xenophobic if you must - I'm gonna be wary of muslims. This guy proves any and all of them could be harboring the anti-american terrorist agenda deep in their twisted little hearts.

@John D. - watreskell..how are you going to be wary of something you can't see??. i mean unless you stake out the Mosques (ok..we don't have many in Utah i admit) and take photos of who goes in and out..how are you going to know who is Muslim and who isn't? you're right..over the last decade most the terrorist that have effected our country have declared their religion as Islam, but unless they also declare themselves to be an extremist nut job..how are you going to know? i can't live in fear of everyone who is brown on the off chance they might be a Muslim. not even that would work since there are white and black Muslims too.

@John D. - And we finally get to the point I was trying to make. For me, going forward, muslim = extremist nut job. For nearly a decade we have been giving muslims the benefit of the doubt. But now, all of them; brown, black, white, striped I don't care, all muslims are suspect in my mind. I don't want them in my military, I don't want them in my community, I DON'T WANT THEM IN MY COUNTRY! One bad apple does not spoil the bunch, but a series of bad apple after bad apple after bad apple leads one to believe that maybe its time to stop pulling apples out of that barrel!
