SUMMIT COUNTY -- A semi truck driver hauling cattle lost control of his rig and crash along Interstate 80 east of the Echo Junction in Summit County.
The Utah Highway Patrol says the westbound truck spun around then rolled just after 11 a.m. Wednesday, blocking both westbound lanes.
Of the 96 calves on board, only one wandered outside the trailer. That calve ran off and was not recovered. Five other calves were killed in the crash.
The 44-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Traffic was backed up in the area for a time Wednesday afternoon, but crews have the accident cleaned up and traffic is flowing as normal.
Additional trucks were brought in to take the remaining cattle.
