Courts need to look at the psychological card and re-evaluate it.

       If he is not held competent to stand trial on November 30th, our country is in the wrong hands.  He was competent enough to hide this girls for nine months, he was competent enough to develop a plan to steal her, and he was competent while he was in jail in California.  This man is totally competent, and anyone who doesn't think so is blinded.  And that beard is hideous they need to cut it off.

This case is a prime example of what a total joke the legal system in this country has become. People are being required to cut back and conserve in all areas except in the legal system where waste of taxpayers money is Mitchell is guilty. This case an others like it are drug out by the free defense attorneys and social workers so they can continue to draw a paycheck at taxpayers expense. This nonsense really needs to be stopped.

The question isn't whether he's "crazy" (as someone pointed out, anyone who commits such a horrible crime is "crazy"), but whether he is competent to stand trial--meaning he can understand the ramifications of his actions. That he hid from the law is proof enough for me that he understood that he was breaking it. That he sneaked in to the Smart home in the night, threatened Elizabeth if she made any noise, hid out in the mountains, left the state, etc., shows that he understood that he would be in deep doodoo if he was caught.

An incompetent person would be less likely to go to such length to hide their crimes.

Incompetent example:

"Did you commit the crime?"

"Duh...crime?"

"Did you take the girl from her house?"

"Duh...yeah...she my friend."


Competent example:

"Did you commit the crime?"

"La la la...[can't you see how incompetent I am?]
