SALT LAKE CITY -- Two men are charged with kidnapping for allegedly taking a woman at knifepoint and abandoning her at the Salt Flats last summer.
According to the Deseret News, charging documents filed Monday in 3rd District Court indicate the Salt Lake City woman said she was kidnapped July 16.
She said she answered a knock at the door of her home near 700 South and 800 East. A man immediately grabbed her by the neck and forced her into a nearby car. She said the man held a knife to her throat and told the driver to head for the Salt Flats.
The documents said when they reached their destination, one of the men told the woman to start walking. Instead, she fell into a ditch. She said the man with the knife cut off some of her hair and told her this was her second chance. They left her in the desert alone.
Two suspects -- Robert Thompson, 30, and Mark Devone Leavitt, 35 -- were charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated kidnapping.
The Deseret News reports bail is set at $250,000 each.
