October 27th, 2009 @ 9:34pm

SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake police are investigating the stabbing of a man Tuesday afternoon, which they believe was gang related.

It happened in the 600 North block of American Beauty Drive (1000 West) just before 4 p.m. Police said the man who was injured was in the front yard of a home there. His attacker came along, argued with him, and then stabbed him in the side and sliced open his face from the side of his mouth.

The victim underwent surgery Tuesday night and is in critical condition.

Police suspect Antonio Arrellano is responsible for the stabbing. He's 19 years old and described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with short brown hair.

Arrellano was believed to be wearing wearing a red coat and brown pants and sustained a cut on his hand during the stabbing.

If you have information on where Arellano might be, contact the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000.
