WEST VALLEY CITY -- A West Valley City home went up in flames Tuesday morning. The homeowner is in jail after admitting to police she started the fire.

Investigators said Angela Schwalger trashed the home with an electric guitar, then started the fire with a lighter and walked out of the home, which is near 3600 West and 4500 South.

Around 2 a.m., she called 911 to report the fire and told dispatchers she was responsible for the blaze.

Police were already on the way to the scene when the call came in; they had received several reports of a domestic disturbance at the home.

Chief John Evans of the West Valley City Fire Department said, "There was fire coming out two front windows and doors, so we had multiple calls on this."

Schwalger was booked into jail on several charges, including aggravated arson, intoxication and domestic criminal mischief.

The fire caused $150,000 damage.
