WYOMING -- The Wyoming Department of Transportation will deliver its final report to a legislative committee Friday morning showing that a toll on I-80 is feasible.

WyDot spokesman Tim McDowell says the plan would most likely build new lanes along I-80 that are tolled.

"We don't have enough revenue even to maintain what we have, so we are exploring all the options," said McDowell.

All summer, Wyoming and some Utah residents weighed in as the issue was studied. McDowell says many were against it, but some were strongly for it.

"There's a lot of public opinion, the Legislature has to weigh that, they also have to weigh the needs of where we are going," he said.

McDowell said toll collection would most likely be through electronic means. It's still a few years away because the full Legislature and then the federal government would have to sign off on it, too.
