Convicted murderer sentenced to 5 years to life
October 1st, 2009 @ 8:20pm

SALT LAKE CITY -- The man convicted of murdering his fiancé more than a decade ago will spend 5 years to life in prison.

The sentence was handed down Thursday against Bill Justin Charles. He is also to pay $25,000 in restitution.

Earlier, Charles' lawyers argued that his conviction should be thrown out because a juror in the case did not reveal he had worked with Charles' uncle. However, a judge disagreed and ordered the case move forward.

Charles was found guilty of murdering Jamie Ellen Weiss in 1996, just days before their wedding. He was not charged until last year, when DNA tests linked him to the death.
