SALT LAKE CITY -- They weigh up to six tons each, and they're ready to menace your business or garden.

Four historic concrete lions are officially up for bid, starting at $100 apiece.

Each of the lions once graced the Utah State Capitol building;two on one side and two on the other. Whoever wins them has their work cut out for them.

"My guesstimation is between 11,000 and 12,000 pounds," says Steve Duggins, warehouse manager for the state surplus office in Draper. "That would take a semi truck and a big crane or a forklift [to move]."

The lions are carefully guarding a gravel lot near the state prison in Draper, where the state surplus division operates. One of the four has a time capsule inside from 1977, the year they were refurbished. The time capsule will stay inside that lion when it's sold.

The lions can be bought separately, in pairs or all four together. They'll be up for bid on through Oct. 8. You can view the lions up for auction online here.
