TOOELE -- Tooele police are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday evening.

Several neighbors reported shots fired in the area of 400 North and 200 West. When police arrived, a woman was lying in the driveway.

"She was shot a couple of times that we're aware of," said Tooele police Lt. Paul Wimmer. "The male was on scene. He was called out, was unwounded. He was taken into custody. … We recovered a weapon as well."

Police said the man and woman are husband and wife. Investigators did not release a possible motive for the shooting, but said they booked the woman's husband, 44-year-old Jack Vangrimbergen, into jail on charges of attempted homicide.

The woman was flown to a Salt Lake hospital in very serious condition.
