From an email sent to KSL Weather:

Goodmorning AM Team, I live in Vernal. This morning around 6:15 I saw something soar across the sky. It came from the Northeast, it looked like a meteor, it had a tail and it was very bright!I got my husband and 15 year old son to look at it. Then it broke up into 20 pieces. Each one very bright. It went out of sight in the southeast. It looked like the pictures we see of the space shuttle breaking up. My husband took a few pictures, we'll see if they turn out.I'm sure others must have seen it too. It was amazing! But what was it?

Thanx, N

I didn't think I'd find much on this one but as it happens, this was a huge display in Denver CO.

What you saw was a decaying rocket that had helped launch a French telescope. Neat! A piece of the rocket landed in Riverton Wyoming but it poses no threat and didn't do any damage.

Check out the links, there's one with an explanation from spaceweather.com.
