Skirmish Breaks Out at Las Vegas Bowl Rally
December 20th, 2006 @ 7:50am

Andrew Adams Reporting

A Maori (mow-ree) war dance turned calisthenics routine incites violence from a couple Ducks.

Skirmish broke out at the Las Vegas Bowl rally when BYU football players started doing the Haka. A couple of the Oregon players didn't like what they saw. Wide Receiver Nate Meikle saw one of them hop a fence and start to mix it up with his teammates.

Nate Meikle, BYU WR: "I don't know what he was doing jumping the fence, I mean that was a little classless, but you know I'm sure he thought he had a good reason for it. We'll just see who wins on Thursday, and we plan on doing it."

Another Duck ripped off his shirt. It's believed that's related to the Haka.

The melee was broken up quickly. No word yet on any consequences.
