HOOPER -- The vehicle that slammed into the side of a Hooper* home early Thursday morning is believed to have been going 95 miles per hour just before the crash.
Homeowners Ray and Maurine Hull got an early-morning wake-up call when the pickup truck slammed into the second story of their house.
The crash happened along 4000 South and 5100 West in Hooper just after 2:00 Thursday morning. The Hulls say a GPS united recovered from the vehicle showed it had been traveling at 95 mph when it blew through a stop sign, hit another truck, then slammed into their home.
By one estimate, the truck was still traveling at 70 miles an hour when it hit the house. "It shook the whole house, it just scared me to death," Maurine said.
When she Ray went into the living room to check out the damage, she said they could see the wheels of the Dodge Ram through the hole in the side of their house.
Maurine immediately called 911 while Ray went to check on the people. He could hear screaming inside the truck.
"I couldn't understand what he was saying," Ray said. "He was yelling and screaming. I was still in a tither myself, wondering what was going on."
Ray says it only took a few minutes for emergency crews to arrive. When they did, they discovered the driver of the other truck, 31-year-old Brandon Rowe, lying in the road about 100 yards from where his truck ended up.
The Weber Country Sheriff's Office says it's not sure if Rowe was thrown from the truck, or if he tried to walk toward the house, but it says he was transported to McKay-Dee Hospital in extremely critical condition.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, 30-year-old Dylan Booker, and his passenger, 30-year-old Andrew Amacher, were also taken to the hospital. Booker had minor injuries, but Amacher had more severe injuries.
Ray and Maurine say they have lived in the house for 39 years and have seen several crashes at the intersection before, but Ray says he's never seen anything like this.
"We think they probably hit there, went up, and then came back down," he said. "This is just unreal and if somebody doesn't die, it will be amazing."
"I've never seen anything like this, and several of the officers on scene reported that they've never seen anything like this as well," said Weber County sheriff's Lt. Lonnie Eskelson.
Eskelson says alcohol was likely a factor in the crash.
