SNOWVILLE - A woman from Washington State died in a car wreck on Interstate 84 near Snowville. Investigators think she may have been distracted while driving.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the woman --identified as Joyce A. Moore, 47, from Kelso, Washington -- was traveling east on I-84 near mile marker 8 just east of Snowville around noon Saturday.
She had just negotiated a curve in the road when her car drifted into the median. She overcorrected back into the eastbound lanes. Her car then went back into the median, rolled at least once and landed on its side in the westbound inside emergency lane.
She was not wearing her seat belt and was thrown from the car. She was transported to Bear River Valley Hospital where she later died.
One westbound lane was closed for about two hours following the crash.
UHP says a dog, an Alaskan Husky-type, was with the woman at the time that the ambulance arrived. However, it ran away and has not been located.
Roads were clear and dry at the time of the accident.
