@www.1staidpc.com - What in the heck is a freaking Interior Design Professor; I thought that kids went to school to learn how to become Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Business People....geeez!
What would you expect from a Interior Deign Professor any ways?
@RogerRoger - KSL always lacks the full story! For one thing, they Guys getting it on were probably LDS, but they wont mention that! The Peterson family name is well known for being LDS!
Just for your edification, there are thousands of Petersons that are Catholics and Methodists.
I've read your posts and it's quite clear that you have something up you lower cavity about the LDS Church. Not that it matters to me as I am not LDS, but you are as transparent as cellophane tape.
Oh, one other thing, what indication do you have that BOTH guys were both LDS??? It sounds more like you are ASSuming that they are both LDS.
@Ben D. - I'm quite aware that there are thousands of Peterson's of other religions, but did you forget what state we live in? The odds are, they are Mormon!!
I really don't have to assume anything, these two homos, are LDS! and it just goes to show you, There are hundreds, if not thousand of gay Mormons!
You might as well be LDS as much as you defend them! I've read many of your posts and your attempt at humor straight up sucks, I picture you as being in you fifties and your job is a crossing guard for an elementary school!
@CaramelCod - Because the state liquor stores have a crappy beer selection, sky high prices, and they keep it warm. Also, because of John Valentine, Mike Waddoups, and of course Buttars. Oh, and Prop 8.
@Lo Wang - Because you can't get your booze of choice you hate Mormons. There are a lot of "non-Mormon" places in this nation where you can't buy a drop of alcohol. Do you hate them to?
As far as the people you mentioned (Buttars, Waddoups, etc), they are individuals who have free agency. They do NOT represent the LDS church as a whole.
Prop 8 was voted for mainly by NON MORMONS. If you hate groups that voted for Prop 8, then I guess you hate black people, Hispanics, Catholics, Muslims, and senior citizens since the large majority of these groups voted FOR prop 8.
@CaramelCod - Well, its the hypocrisy and the pitiful attitudes they all have towards everyone!
I mean take a look at some of the ideas they have like putting up a 10 foot wall so kids cant see drinks being made! Whats up with that? DON'T TAKE YOUR KIDS TO A PLACE THAT SERVES ALCOHOL! if you're that worried!
If they were truly good parents, they would tell them NO! you cant have a beer! and if your kid see' a bartender pour a drink, then the kid becomes an alcoholic, well there are more issues in that family than they really know about!
The LDS continue to complain about the Gays "FORCING" their lifestyle on everyone else, but did the LDS stop to think of the way they are "FORCING" their lifestyle on the rest of us?
There is no Tom Peterson in the Interior Design department but there is one in the Agriculture Systems Technology Education department. Which is it KSL?
@Bonsaiboy - And what department is Tom in? Did you read the comment. Tom C. Peterson is in the ASTE department: Look at http://www.usu.edu/aste/faculty_staff/
Now look at Interior Design, ret@rd:
http://interiordesign.usu.edu/staff.htm
@TenKMan - TenKMan, did you ever think that maybe a professor could work in more than one department? Funny how a simple Google search found a resume for a Tom C. Peterson that's all about interior design and, look at that, graphic design. Maybe he knows something about computers, so they have him teach in ASTE.
@cetsonle - Its funny how I also took his creative arts class up there on campus. Just type his name in at the USU website and it pulls up results saying he's in interior design.
@cetsonle - The herald Journal reports this morning (correctly) that Tom Peterson is a member of the ASTE department as I said. He indeed WAS a member of the interior design department but since we are in the present, he is a member of the ASTE department. My point precisely is to do some investigating before you publish it. The article said he was in the Interior design department. That is wrong. Check it out.
@TenKMan - He was the director of the interior design program and head of the Cain School of the Arts up until about 2.5 years ago or so when he suddenly resigned. We were all shocked by the way he resigned it all seemed so odd. (I was a senior in the design program then) Now it has me wondering what went on then to make him resign so suddenly.
@Pamela J. - He was moved because there were serious allegations of sexual harrassment. Note, no salary decrease, right? No real resignation as far as money goes. Meanwhile, on another news site, we learn that at least 9 tenure track people were laid off. They make less than 50K in the humanities, not 150K. His new dean was excited about the interior design services he offered to the ASTE department. Makes me wonder about accreditation, in so many ways.
@TenKMan - he was once the head of the interior design department but was asked to step down last year due to issues with using student funds for personal gains
Lewdness is always bad but when the University is looking for ways to cut the budget and ease expenses, it's especially not the time to do something like this...
Gross... I don't know if there is enough bleach in Logan to convince me it's okay to go in that room now...
One has to LOVE the academcians "in action", or is it "inaction"? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sure that the "slippery soap...oops, SLOPE" has been breached by this terrible lack of decorum by these pillars of academic "leadership".~~~~~~~~~~~
@Adam P. - I had to take his class my Freshman year back in 2004. He was a nice man. My wife also had him for some graphic design courses. He was always easy to approach and went the extra step to help his students.
I hope that he is able to get past this, and do what's best for his family (yes he has a family). People need to relax. I'm guessing Dr. Peterson has already drafted his letter of resignation. Logan is a small town to hope that people will forget something like this.
@lil-mum - The 3 witnesses described the perp to the HPER employees, who immediately recognized his description. Then Tom Peterson walked out of the locker room and the witnesses pointed him out to the employees. Not surprising. He has been on the HPER potential "naughty" list for a while.

@Denise B. - Denise B. is correct. In addition to this lack of academic credentials, the university knowingly assigned Tom Peterson to be on the Dean's committees that decided yay or nay regarding tenure and promotion of professors in the HASS area.
The posters who are concerned about the LDS sensitivity should know that there are some devout LDS who would like to see some justice, especially regarding the sexual harrassment of women on campus.
Everyone has always wondered what it was that Tom Peterson had on the University! I wish an investigative reporter would uncover all of the investigations of wrongdoing related to Mr. Peterson. Unfortunately, maybe this one can't be covered up! The good ole' boy system at Utah State had encouraged the type of activity that has allowed Tom be above the law and without ethics. He could have done this at a hotel room or at home, but the fact that he did it on campus symbolize his actions in relation to this institution. The Board of Regents should call for an investigation. Only an outsider will dig up all the dirt that could has cast a very dark and dirty shadow at USU. Shame on those who keep protecting this man. I am sure the USU vaults are full of these investigations that keep letting him walking away like a saint. And now we see him for the saint he isn't.
@Honesty J. - Hey Honesty, sounds like you've got the inside scoop on Mr. Peterson. As tantalizing as it is to all of us "posters" to peer into Mr. Peterson's background, are you sure the public is well served by investigative reporters or special investigators digging into people's private affairs? The Kenneth Star report is a super-sized example of how poorly we're served when people's private affairs are judged publicly. If Mr. Peterson is as shady as you imply, does the benefit to exposing him in the media outweigh the damage done to his family and the many honest and hardworking students, faculty and administrators at USU?
Perhaps Honesty J has nothing to be ashamed of in his/her background, but I suspect most of us would be hurt and embarrassed if we had to explain every moment of our lives. Mr Peterson's done a stupid thing, but let's let the justice system take care of him, not the media.
@Bonzai_Haircut - This is not about examining every moment of someones lives. Nice red herring though. Why are you assuming this is about private affairs? When someone is an employee of the government and public funds are involved, it is imperative that investigations take place. Unfortunatley, USU has been like an iron curtain in protecting its own.
As far as the University, faculty and students, they would all be far better served if the abuses were uncovered and prevented in the future. Justice is only served when justice is blind, but in the case of Tom Peterson and abuse of power and authority and questionable use of funds, etc, justice has never been involved in Mr. Peterson's case. No mention of the unique role Mrs. Peterson plays in campus politics.
Your ideals are commendable, but unfortunately USU has been exempt from practicing those same ethics you seem to promote.
As far as my background? My salary has never been paid for by the state, I have never utilized public funds in a questionable manner, I have never, as a public employee harrassed those that reported to me. So Bonzai, I would recommend keeping the logic in tow, after all, honesty is the best policy.
Finally, in some cases we need the media to play a pivotal role, when those in power fail to responsibly protect the public interest. As far as the "stupid thing" you reference.... that's not even the tip of the of the iceberg.
@Bonzai_Haircut - Journalists should do their jobs, because taxpayer money needs to go to educate Utah students. Why should Utahns be given a raw deal with the management of the funds? That is the issue, not the private life of Mr. Peterson. The media is very tame in Utah, and rarely discusses misdeeds in print. He is still being paid 150K....according to the news.
Three men walked into the steam room and witnessed Tom Peterson and another male doing stuff. They went out to the HPER employees and described what happened. The employees immediately recognized Tom Peterson by his description. An employee called the cops, who then came to the HPER to investigate. As the three students were still talking to the HPER employees, Tom Peterson exited the locker room (looking rather FREAKED OUT), and the 3 students pointed out that he indeed was the man. An officer then came about 1 minute later, interviewed the witnesses and the HPER employees. Sad thing is, they still do not know who the other man in the steam room is because he bolted as soon as he was seen. This should definitely be made aware to the state, so that people can be aware that this kind of crap happens. The HJ News reports that 7 personal ads for "males seeking males", and which talked about the steam room, were found on craigslist since Jan 27. Gross! Tom Peterson is lucky these three students didn't woop him.

He is not Mormon, he does suck, like Rex said. He IS in the Interior Design department, for now...USU for some retarded reason has him listed in Ag, which he is not. Also, he was never an Interior Designer, he was a Fashion Designer, who claimed to be straight. Oh, and did I mention he is not Mormon??!!
This guy is a prime example of academics who do nothing but get compensated for it...it appears that the guy wouldn't sneeze without mentioning it on his resume! I swear, these people should not be paid 150k/yr! He lists taking powerpoint classes! Every seminar he visits he probably demands an extra 5k! He lists universities he has visited! Like that makes him great! My goodness people, this is insanity!
Dr. Peterson was my 1330 teacher as well. I thought he was a good teacher, but always thought he leaned a little. I think he made a mistake in doing this ON CAMPUS. Should have gone to the Sports Academy or something. Anyway, hope he gets past this and that people don't hold it against him. Good luck, Dr. P!!!

What lewd behavior was witnessed. If you're going to report on it, at least you could identify it.
