SALT LAKE CITY-- Two boys on bicycles were involved in separate crashes with cars Thursday morning.
In Salt Lake City, an 8-year-old boy heading to school on his bike received minor injuries when a vehicle struck him.
Witness Shawn Owen says he saw the boy crossing 700 East in the crosswalk near 600 South. A driver was turning from 600 South to go northbound on 700 East, didn't see the boy and hit him.
"Crosswalks should be the sanctuaries," Owen said. "That should be the safe place to be. It should be the responsibility of the driver to who's crossing and from what direction."
"It's not something you want to see, especially when it involves a child," Owen added.
The boy was taken to the hospital with wrist and ankle injuries.
In Eagle Mountain, a 14-year-old boy was riding near the intersection of Ranch Parkway and Pony Express when he was bumped by a car.
He fell off the bike but is OK.
Police say the boy was checked then sent on his way to school.
