HERRIMAN, Utah (AP) -- An investigation is underway into the discovery of more than a dozen bunnies believed to have been dumped in a canyon near Herriman.
Salt Lake County Animal Services reported 17 domesticated rabbits were found in Butterfield Canyon. The organization believes the bunnies started out as someone's pets, then they started breeding, it got out of control, so they got rid of them.
Someone reported seeing as many as 30 rabbits on the side of the road last week. On Saturday, animal control officers captured a dozen of them. Then another five were rounded up on Sunday.
All the rabbits are now being put up for adoption.
