(KSL News) The city of Anaheim, Calif., soon will be getting some additional electricity thanks to a new geothermal plant in Utah.
Last week, the ribbon was cut for Raser Technology's new geothermal power plant in Beaver County.
The plant was built in only six months, using a new modular design. The smaller units can be built quickly and additional units can be attached together for future generating needs.
Perhaps the most important aspect of these new units is that they can produce electricity from underground water sources that have lower temperatures. That opens the door to more underground resources.
The new plant is named "Thermo." Raser Technologies, based in Provo, is planning to build more plants in other western states.
