UTA wants to create bike transit centers to accommodate increasing bike traffic. It's already a cramped ride on FrontRunner with bikes taking up room.

UTA spokeswoman Carrie Bohnsack-Ware says something has to be done about all those bikes on FrontRunner. "We're also looking at removing a row of seats to accommodate our bicyclists so that they can stay with their bikes instead of piling them up," she said. She added, "We're adding four car trains on when we're seeing the most riders. That is going to help us when we take out the seats, to accommodate our riders and the bicyclists," she said.

The ultimate plan is for bike transit centers, places where bikes can be safely stowed indoors. They come complete with a repair shop and rental station and an indoor parking area. The first one is tentatively planned to be located near the intermodal hub.

UTA says the project isn't funded yet and remains in the planning stages.
