(KSL News) Congressman Chris Cannon is vouching for a man charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Sifa Pulu is accused of kidnapping a woman last month in retaliation for a drug deal gone bad. Police say Pulu and another man drove her around Provo for hours threatening to kill her, until she finally jumped from the car to save herself.

Yesterday Cannon appeared in court with Pulu testifying he has known the man for years and has never known him to be violent. Cannon also said he would pay the costs to bring Pulu back into custody if he failed to show for future court dates.
