(KSL News) An Orem boy injured by an explosive device on Pioneer Day has been upgraded to serious condition.

According Primary Children's Medical Center, Bridger Hunt has had his breathing tube removed, and he is now breathing on his own.

Doctors have closed some of the wounds on his legs, and Bridger is starting to wake up.

Bridger was severely injured by shrapnel when a Lehi man ignited black powder in a metal tube while trying to make a homemade firework.
