The auditions have begun for "American Idol" in Utah, and the thousands of people going through EnergySolutions Arena all think they have what it takes.

Zach Sampson came from Cheyenne, barely slept overnight, but he thinks he's got what it takes. Titianna Grigg thinks the song "I Have Soul" from a video game will send her on to the next round.

'Idol' hopefuls confident going into auditions

Senior producer Patrick Lynn says it doesn't matter if people are only trying to get on TV. "They're coming in, and that's the most important thing, because we cannot make a show without these people showing up," he said.

Lynn says "American Idol" was planning to hold auditions here even before Utahn David Archuleta did so well on the show.
