(KSL News) Utah voters favor Republican John McCain for president, according to a new poll.
Dan Jones and Associates just wrapped up a statewide poll this past week for KSL and the Deseret News.
If the election was today, McCain would defeat Barak Obama in Utah by a 57- to 29-percent margin. Independent Ralph Nader gets just 1 percent and 7 percent are still undecided.
Voters also were asked about vice presidential choices for both candidates. On the GOP side, Utah voters overwhelmingly would like Mitt Romney to be John McCain's running mate. Mike Huckabee gets 6 percent, with 14 percent not sure yet.
For the Democrats, voters like an Obama-John Edwards ticket. Bill Richardson gets 16 percent and Hillary Clinton 12 percent.
And Utah voters apparently do not like the idea of an Obama-Clinton ticket. Forty-eight percent said they would be less likely to vote for Obama if he chooses Sen. Clinton as his running mate. Twenty percent said it would make no difference.
