(KSL News) Aerial photos from from Lake Powell today show that the best water year in a long time is shaping up at Utah's most popular recreation lake.
For the first time in several years, Lake Powell has risen high enough to reopen the so-called Castle Rock Cut, which provides a shortcut to the main channel from Wahweap Marina.
That will save many time-consuming and gas-guzzling extra miles for boaters in the lower end of the lake.
At the upper end, the launch ramp at Hite is once again within spitting distance of Lake Powell. It's been high and dry for a number of years.
