SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch's campaign committee is one of the nation's largest contributors to a fund to elect other Republicans.
According to a Federal Election Commission report released Monday, the Utah Republican's committee has donated $200,000 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee through March 31.
Only Mississippi Sen. Trent Lott and Nevada Sen. John Ensign's committees donated more, with each donating about $300,000.
Hatch is serving his sixth term in the Senate and is not up for election this year.
FEC reports show his campaign committee has plenty of money to spend. In the first quarter of 2008, he had more than $1.8 million in cash on hand.
