SOUTH SALT LAKE — Three additional suspects were arrested this week in what police say was a robbery that turned into "ambush-style" murder.
Whitney Marie Connor, 28, and Cameron Roger Fuger, 37, were arrested by South Salt Lake police Monday for their role in the alleged robbery that took the life of Orlando Roybal, 32, on Dec. 4, 2014. Chris Villiard, 29, was arrested on Tuesday.
"Whitney Connor told police that Amar Miljkovic needed money, so a plan was concocted to rob a (woman) named Austin, Orlando Roybal's girlfriend," said South Salt Lake police spokesman Gary Keller. Fuger and Villiard were "recruited" to assist in the robbery, he said.
Connor arranged to meet with Roybal's girlfriend at 600 E. Leland Ave., police said. When the woman drove to the "dark street," with Roybal in the passenger seat, Connor allegedly got into the back seat and completed the deal.
Police said Miljkovic then opened the driver's side door, took several undisclosed items, reached around the driver and shot Roybal multiple times.
All four suspects "were at the scene with the intent to commit a robbery when Orlando Roybal was shot and killed," Keller said.
Miljkovic, 24, of Midvale, was arrested on March 19.
All four have been charged in 3rd District Court with murder and aggravated robbery, first-degree felonies. Connor, who was initially arrested in December but wasn't charged at the time, is also charged with obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.
