MESA, Colo. — An 18-year-old woman who has been missing since mid-December is believed to be in the Salt Lake City area, police say.

Investigators acquired information saying the woman, Kelly Mae Myers from Grand Junction, may have hitchhiked to Utah, specifically Salt Lake City, Heather Benjamin with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office said.

Myers' Facebook account shows no activity since December 17, 2014, and the last her family members heard from her was December 18, 2014, Benjamin said.

Investigators believe Myers' has friends in the Salt Lake City area, and she may have been trying to get there, Benjamin said.

Myers' family said this is unusual behavior for her, and they are very concerned. At this time, she is not listed as endangered but as missing, Benjamin said.

Anyone who knows her whereabouts, sees her or comes in contact with her, should call Investigator Henderson, at (970) 244-3264
