TAYLORSVILLE — Police say Jason Barlow made an unusual admission when he told an officer who had just pulled him over: "I am way too intoxicated to drive now."
Barlow was pulled over by a Unified police officer near 3900 South and 600 West on Nov. 24, 2014, for driving 100 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to charging documents. Police say he also had a blood-alcohol content of 0.185, more than twice the legal limit.
When the officer pulled Barlow over, he stated, "I am in big trouble," according to court documents.
I am in big trouble... Because I was just arrested for DUI a month ago and I am way too intoxicated to drive now.
–Barlow allegedly told officer
The officer asked Barlow why he thought he was in trouble. He replied, "Because I was just arrested for DUI a month ago and I am way too intoxicated to drive now," the charges state.
Barlow, 45, of Draper, was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with DUI, a third-degree felony, and speeding, a class C misdemeanor.
Utah state court records show Barlow has had a steady stream of court cases since 1991. He was convicted of misdemeanor intoxication and criminal mischief in 1999, public intoxication in 2001, and criminal mischief and simple assault in 2003.
