WEST VALLEY CITY — Police continued looking Friday for a man who allegedly pulled a gun on a good Samaritan.
About 2 a.m., a West Valley police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle for minor traffic violations. The driver sped away through a residential area, and the officer stopped pursuing, according to West Valley police.
Moments later, however, the car slid out of control and crashed into a yard near 3200 West and 2800 South.
"He should have been in our front room right next to me in the kitchen," said resident Jo Andelin, who heard the crash and believes it was fortunate the vehicle didn't crash through the home.
Andelin is also an EMT.
"I hear a crash, I immediately go to help somebody," she said.
But as Andelin was checking the vehicle to see if anyone was hurt, "as soon as I opened the door, someone came up behind me and pushed me out of the way with a gun," she said.
At that point, Andelin backed off.
"'Ok, you want what you want. Take it. I'm not going to stop you,'" she said.
The man then got back in the car and drove off. Police believe a second person may have fled from the scene.
