SOUTH OGDEN — A man was arrested Tuesday after stabbing his roommate during an altercation about money, police said.
South Ogden police dispatch received a call around 5:40 a.m. from a 53-year-old man who reported his roommate had stabbed him, according to South Ogden police Sgt. David Labbe. Officers responded to the single family residence near 5200 S. 1300 East and discovered Randy Jorgensen, 60, had broken down a door with a sledge hammer, Labbe said.
Labbe said the two men had an altercation over money and Jorgensen made several attempts to stab the victim with a knife. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered the victim had been stabbed on his left leg. The victim was transported to McKay-Dee Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
“Mr. Jorgensen was arrested and during the course of the investigation, he did tell investigators that his intent was to kill the victim,” Labbe said.
Police said there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol in connection with the altercation. Jorgensen was booked into the Weber County Jail on suspicion of attempted homicide.
