5 things to check out at Outdoor Retailer

SALT LAKE CITY — The Outdoor Retailer Summer Market is coming to Salt Lake City from Aug. 6-9 at the Salt Palace Convention Center.

Outdoor industry members who register can learn what products will be released next year and what new products have to offer. Lots of events are happening this weekend as part of the Summer Market event.

If you are registered to go to Outdoor Retailer, here are five things to check out.

Open Air Demo

On Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. the Open Air Demo is at Cemetery Point at Pineview Reservoir. This event gives people a chance to experience new gear on the water. That day there is also an Open Air Demo Games. The Games will feature stand-up paddle boarding, yoga and other events for individuals or teams to compete in. Each activity will be timed and the winners will receive a prize from sponsors. During the Open Air Demo there will also be two Helly Hansen Train with Confidence 5K Trail Runs beginning at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Casting Pond and Paddle Club

The Casting Pond and the Paddle Club are located at the Outside Pavilions 1 and 2 every day from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., but will close at 3 p.m. the last day. At the Casting Pond, people can test new fishing products, watch a variety of demonstrations or catch a fly fishing clinic. The Paddle Club will feature an expanded paddle tank for people to try out new paddle boards.

The Yoga Studio

The Yoga Studio is open every day at Outdoor Retailer from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., but will close at 3 p.m. the last day. This will be a gathering spot for yoga retailers and manufacturers that are looking for more than just a booth appointment. The Studio will be a place for the growing yoga community to discover new products. Attendees can actually attend yoga sessions at the Prana rejuvenation room throughout the weekend.

The Street Scene

There is no need to go hungry at Outdoor Retailer. In the area dubbed as the "Street Scene" there will be plenty of gourmet food trucks along with the Beer Garden. Also located at the Street Scene is The Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show. At the Tailgate Show, there will be products like generators, grills, tents and other accessories to check out. While looking at the new tailgating gear, attendees can enjoy games and food. The Street Scene is only available to badged attendees.

Walltopia Climbing Walls

Walltopia is providing a climbing boulder that may challenge many climbers. On the boulder, there will be routes for beginners to experts. This area of Outdoor Retailer will also have a variety of climbing demonstrations and clinics. The boulder is located at the Outside Pavilion 3 and will be opened every day of the event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., but will at 3 p.m. the last day.
