BOX ELDER COUNTY — A semitruck caught on fire Friday afternoon, causing a grass fire near I-84.

Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands spokesman Jason Curry said the semitruck caught fire while traveling along I-84 near Snowville. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but the fire spread from the vehicle to the grass around 4 p.m.

The wildfire was burning on the Idaho side of the border and Idaho officials were dispatched to the scene.

Officials said the fire is roughly 100 acres. It was contained at 6 p.m., and officials estimate it will be under control by about 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The fire was described as a long skinny fire, hugging both sides of I-84.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
