FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) — A South Weber city councilman accused in a $200,000 fraud scheme at a Bountiful assisted living facility he managed has pleaded not guilty.

The Standard- Examiner reports 41-year-old William Michael Poff entered the pleas Thursday and is scheduled for a pretrial conference in September. He faces three felony communication fraud charges.

Prosecutors allege Poff put business funds into his personal bank accounts, paid off credit cards with facility earnings and used credit cards in the business's name from 2008 to 2010.

He has since been fired.

Poff's council duties include overseeing South Weber business development, Eagle Scout and youth service projects and a board tasked with improving the district's sewers.

South Weber city officials have not taken immediate action against him, saying the charges aren't linked to his council work.
