PAROWAN — A woman was fatally shot by her step-father in his driveway on Thursday, police said.

Officers from the Parowan City Police Department found the woman in the driveway of a home near 300 South and 800 West after receiving reports of a domestic dispute where shots were fired at about 12:25 p.m., according to Lt. Del Schlosser, Iron County Sheriff's Office.

The 57-year-old woman had been fatally shot, Schlosser said. A shotgun was located in close proximity to the woman, according to a statement from the Iron County attorney.

Schlosser said Zimmerman is in custody and "no longer a threat to the public."

The woman’s body will be examined by the State Medical Examiner’s Office. Her identity has not yet been released.
