PROVO (AP) — A group of Utah County voters is asking the lieutenant governor to investigate whether county attorney Jeff Buhman violated state law by releasing personal records of his Republican primary opponent.
The complaint filed last week is signed with the phrase "Utah County Voters" and notes that specific names are being temporarily withheld out of fear of retribution.
Buhman's campaign released a tax abatement request that was denied and a job application filled out by his opponent, Ben Stanley.
Buhman told the Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/1mcdrZS ) he was simply vetting his opponent and requested the information through public records requests.
Stanley, who lost in the June primary by 932 votes, said he is not involved in the complaint and has moved on from the election, but is grateful for the support.
