PRICE — Residents of Price recently joined in assisting an airman who had car problems near their town.
Air Force Staff Sgt. Rowan Coash planned to drive from Vancouver, Washington, to report for duty in San Antonio at the end of May, according to khon2.com. However, Coash began having car problems on U.S. 6 outside of Price.
“My car stopped working," Coash told khon2.com. "It was almost like someone had nearly pulled the keys out of the ignition."
Coash was able to get his 2005 Toyota Corolla towed into Price, but he was worried about the cost of repair and being able to make it to San Antonio on time to avoid being considered absent without leave, according to the Sun Advocate.
Coash contacted his friend, Erica Krochmalny, to ask for help. Krochmalny posted on Facebook asking for any Utahns in the area to help her friend. The post spread on social media and within hours, 100 people had responded, khon2.com reported.
Leslie and Rob Holmes, of Price, offered to store Coash's car in their garage and Tony Basso GM offered to cover the cost of the repairs free of charge.
"Everyone at the shop wanted to jump in and help Rowan out after they heard about his story," Karly Houskeeper, a marketing director with Tony Basso GM, told the Sun Advocate.
Coash was able to spend the night in Price, rented a car the next day and finished his trip to San Antonio. The car will be transported to San Antonio free of charge.
