OGDEN — Two Cub Scouts called police after they said a man they didn't know offered them a ride home.

The two 8-year-old Scouts were waiting for a ride home from an activity Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of an LDS chapel located at 1402 Country Hills Drive in Ogden. The boys told police a man approached them and asked them if they wanted a ride home.

The man told the boys he has talked to his parents and they had requested he take them home, the boys said. One boy asked the man for "the password," which was a word predetermined by himself and his parents for situations like this.

The man was unable to provide the boy with the password, and the boys ran away and called police.

Ogden Police Major Crimes Detectives were called to the scene and the case is currently under investigation. The man is described as in his late 20s with a dark complexion and short, blond spiked hair. He was driving a late 1990s dark colored Chevy S-10 truck with a long scratch down one of the sides.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Travis Gerfen at 801-629-8477.
