HEBER — A man is in critical condition after two cars collided in an intersection Wednesday afternoon.
Heber police officer Salvador Segura said the accident occurred at 200 North and 300 East around 3 p.m. Two vehicles entered the ungoverned intersection at the same time and collided, Segura said.
Segura said a man was driving one vehicle and a 17-year-old female was driving the other vehicle with a teenage passenger. The man was critically injured in the accident and was airlifted to a trauma center. The teenagers had minor injuries.
The intersection was in a residential area and the impact knocked one of the vehicles into a yard. Segura said speed may have been a factor in the accident.
"Always yield at an ungoverned intersection just because you never know," Segura said. "Sometimes people don't know the laws when it comes to ungoverned intersections. And another thing, if they don't see the stop signs where they are looking at, they might perceive there is another stop sign in the other direction, which there is not always."
The investigation is ongoing and more information will be posted as it becomes available.
