COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A man is in serious condition after being hit by a car while in a crosswalk.

Late Sunday night, a man dressed in dark clothing left the 7-Eleven at 2296 E. Fort Union Blvd. As he was crossing the street against a red light, an oncoming vehicle hit him, according to police.

Investigators said the driver is cooperating with police and he apparently didn't see the pedestrian until it was too late.

Officers are reminding pedestrians to wait for a green light to cross a street.
