WEST VALLEY CITY — A child escaped injury but three others were hurt in a traffic collision Sunday.

Officials said a Lexus was traveling northbound on the Mountain View Corridor when witnesses claim the driver failed to stop for a red light. The vehicle was struck broadside by a Chevy pickup truck heading westbound on 6200 South.

Two adult males in the truck were taken by ambulance to a local hospital in serious condition, along with the 28-year-old male driver of the Lexus who was in critical condition, according to police.

The 4-year-old girl who was strapped into a child safety seat in the rear seat of the Lexus was unharmed and eventually placed in the custody her mother.

Authorities are investigating what promoted the car to roll through the intersection.
